Art Basel Miami Beach was founded in 2002 by Samuel Keller as the sister expo to Art Basel in Switzerland.
Keller saw an opportunity to bring together the global art community in sunny
South Florida during a time when wealthy art collectors in Europe and New York are
looking to retreat from the cold. Art Basel is unique in that it brings
together the worlds of fashion, music, celebrity, and art to create an
environment of luxury where elite art collectors from around the world will
look to purchase one of a kind contemporary and historic artworks.
